Before you convert

A clear path from source to output.

  1. 01

    Prepare the source

Confirm the date order and whether money out is negative. QIF output uses month/day/year dates, a signed amount and the payee on separate lines.

  2. 02

    Review the transformation

QIF is a text interchange format. This tool exports basic bank transactions using D, T, P and optional M fields, followed by a caret terminator. It does not generate investment trades or security positions.

  3. 03

    Check the destination

QIF import support varies by application, edition and account type. Confirm the target importer before converting an entire year. QIF has no equivalent to the bank FITID duplicate-matching contract used by OFX.

What to check in the preview

Compare the record count, date range, deposits and withdrawals with your source. A download is not a completed import or an account reconciliation.

The tool handles one local file up to 5 MB. Invalid records block export. Format-specific limitations appear before you download.
